CHIPPING HAMMER

A chipping hammer is a specialized hammer used for metalwork, particularly for cleaning up welds.

There are two main types of chipping hammers:

• Here are some common uses for chipping hammers:

  • Removing slag and spatter from welds: Slag is the glassy residue left behind from the welding process. Spatter is molten metal droplets that come off the electrode during welding. The chipping hammer, with its pointed chisel end, can break up and remove this debris.
