SPIRIT LEVEL

A spirit level, also sometimes called a bubble level or simply a level, is a tool used to indicate whether a surface is horizontal (level) or vertical (plumb). Types of Spirit Levels:

There are two main types of spirit levels:

• Tubular level:This is the most common type of spirit level. It is a long, narrow level with vials set into the top and/or side. They come in a variety of lengths, with common lengths being 24 inches, 48 inches, and 72 inches.
• Bulls eye level:This type of spirit level is circular and has a vial in the center. The bubble moves around a circular scale, making it useful for getting a precise reading at any angle.

• Using a Spirit Level:

  • Place the spirit level on the surface you want to check.
  • For a horizontal surface, look at the vial from the side. If the bubble is in the center of the vial, the surface is level. If the bubble is closer to one end, the surface is tilted in that direction.
  • For a vertical surface, look at the vial from the front. If the bubble is in the center of the vial, the surface is plumb. If the bubble is closer to one end, the surface is leaning away from you in that direction.
